No training wheels!

I am a great bike rider. I've kept on one training wheel for months mostly because my bike doesn't have a kick stand. Well, I finally took it off and I am faster than ever!

Carnival of the Animals

After months of preparation and two full days of rehearsals, my class along with four other 1st grade classes, performed the Carnival of the Animals at the McCoy Center. The show was about a little girl who was dreaming of different animals. We all recited lines from the Tempest, and our class did a tortoise and zebra poem and dance.

Here we are getting ready in out tortoise costumes.

Shakespeare's the Tempest.

Don't I make a great zebra?

Johnston's maple syrup

2nd annual batch of syrup is underway.

Electronics ban

So I guess 6 hours of Minecraft plus bad behavior gets you banned from electronics. Doesn't seem fair to me.

This was us then.

This is us now.

At least this got me back into writing my Spiker book. The key to writing a good book is putting a Caldecott medal on it. So that's what all my books will have.

Thanks Grandma!

Thanks for taking care of me while mommy was away, especially since I got strep throat and talked incessantly about video games.

Basketball season

I got ANOTHER medal. This time for basketball. My team was great. I learned how to play the game and I made baskets every week. It was so much fun. Go Cavs!

School Valentines

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! Valentine's Day is about telling people that you love them, giving cards to family and friends, and eating CANDY! I love how holidays always have candy.

Luke and I worked hard on writing our cards for school.

Look at our loot!

In my class we all wrote nice things about each of our classmates. Then our room mom helped us put them onto the hearts we decorated. Isn't it great?

Frozen

Daddy made us some super cool snow forts. Too bad we can only play in them for 5 minutes at a time. It is way too cold this winter!

Bingo party

Last week my school had a book fair and bingo party. Luke and I each picked out two books. I met Llama, Llama, and we played bingo for prizes.

Here's me being annoyed because everyone else kept winning!

Bedtime routines

I have a thing for routines. I used to have lots and lots of unnecessary routines I had to do for all different kinds of things, like brushing my teeth, getting in the car, getting out of the car, eating my food, etc. I have let most of those go. I do however, have two bedtime routines that are just too fun to give up.

Routine #1: After my bath, wearing my towel in my bedroom, I do the following:

  • Whip off my towel while shouting "Naked Robin!"
  • I turn around, shake my naked behind, and sing, "Shake that bottom line" (this if from the Lorax)
  • Then I shake my booty some more and sing, "with my body language!" (this is from the Little Mermaid).
Routine #2: After the books are all read, I have to have the following exchange with Mommy:
  • Luke: Kiss (we kiss). Thumb kiss (we thumb kiss). Huggie (we hug; love Dexter's word for hugs)
  • Luke: Good night. Mom: Good night.
  • Luke: See you later. Mom: See you later.
  • Luke: I love you. Mom: I love you too.
  • Luke: Sleep with me for 10 minutes! Got it? 10 minutes. Mom: Got it. (Then mom leaves because she doesn't really need to sleep with me, its just something I have to say.)
Lately I've tried to add "I need a drink of water and a snack" to routine #2, but mom is resisting. I cannot be interrupted during my routines. If mom tries, then I just start all over again. It's just my way.

Need some Shakespeare?

My 1st grade class is putting on a production called the Carnival of the Animals! There will be music, singing, and poetry. I am ready to perform!

Shakespeare's The Tempest

An original poem titled Tortoises
