I milked a cow!

That's right! Thanks, State Fair.

Cole and Mom tried it too. Don't know why Dad didn't want a turn.

 I love the State Fair.

The Ohio State Fair

The Ohio State Fair is fun and amazing! We saw lots and lots of animals. Huge beautiful horses, sheep getting hair cuts, big lazy pigs and racing pigs. We saw a lumberjack show and the butter cow. I met Abraham Lincoln and civil war soldiers. I climbed on huge farm equipment. I ate a corn dog, caramel apple, and cotton candy. And of course, we rode on carnival rides! Woo hoo!!

Look at us, going way up high!

Luke was very scared on this one but he did it.

Mad scientist

Did you know that oil and water hate each other and that you can make ice stick together? I do! It's science!

Adena Burial Mound

Did you know that there were Native American Indians living all over Ohio thousands of years ago? When their people died they put them on the floor of their hut, burnt it down, and covered them with dirt making a mound. When others died, they put them on the mound and covered them up, make the mound bigger and bigger. The mounds are all over Ohio. At Highbanks Metro Park they have two mounds made by the Adena people. They also have a wall built by the Cole Indians. That's right, the COLE INDIANS!

The park teacher took us out to the Adena mound. It is strange to have this grassy hill in the middle of the forest. No one has ever dug it up, so they don't know if there really are skeletons in there, but I'm sure there are!

We also learned about the kinds of tools the native people used and the artifacts scientists have found.

Summer camp

I just finished a week of summer camp at Sharon Woods Metro Park. I learned all about different kinds of animals and how they use camouflage. I also went creeking and fishing, found a mouse skeleton in an owl pellet, had a cookout with smores, and played football during our free time. I hope I get to go again next year.

Metro Park Explorer

I earned my badge again this year. I am a great Metro Park Explorer. Today I earned my badge during a very special preschoolers program. We took a tram ride to a restricted area of the park and hiked deep into the woods. We even had to crawl under some downed trees. Easy for a great explorer like me. I saw a big deer with antlers and some wild turkeys. I found a turkey feather and a slug. I practiced reading the map during the hike. And afterwards I held a monarch caterpillar!

Library Summer Reading Club

Did you know that the library is one of the best places to be in the summer time? I did the summer reading program and after reading for 12 hours, I earned great coupons, a magazine, and my own Mo Willems book. Luke only had to listen to mom read to him for 6 hours. No fair. Just wait until next year when he's done with Kindergarten. I also went to lots of kid programs. They really know how to have fun! We went to the Balloon Mystery Magic show, the Reptile Guy, Chulo the Clown, the (Angry) Bird is the Word, and a Pete the Cat Party.

Here is me and Chulo the Clown. I helped him do a magic trick!

We saw the Reptile Guy again. This year we each held a turtle. Luke's was a little bit bigger than mine.

We also tried to knock down the bad piggies with a real slingshot and some angry birds!

Magic Rocks

Check out these cool geodes! I couldn't find my safety goggles, so I had to use my Harry Potter glasses.

Safety Town

I just finished two weeks of Safety Town Camp. While I was there I made friends with policemen, firemen, and the other kids in my class. I learned to call 911, stop drop and roll, avoid poison, and crawl through a smokey house. I am extra careful now when I cross the street. And I know to stay away from strangers.

I learned what to do when a strange dog comes my way.

My favorite thing at Safety Town is Adventureland. It is a little town with roads, stop lights and a car wash. I rode a bike around, practicing the traffic rules.

The car wash!

My friend Blake was in my classroom. I also met a very nice girl named Ava. She was in a different room, but she was my Safety Town girlfriend anyway.

Zoombezie Bay Birthday

To celebrate my birthday we all went to Zoombezie Bay. This is the water park at the Columbus Zoo. We were there ALL day and it was crazy fun. My favorite ride was the dolphin dash. We all raced each other down a huge slide. Dad won every time.  I really need to grow two more inches so that the next time we go I can go on all the really big rides.

This has to be the biggest water play area ever!

We even had our own cabana!

Don't I look 7?!

Its my birthday!

I'm 7! I love my birthday. This year we had donuts for breakfast and early morning presents. Grandma and Ali gave me presents weeks ago. Today mom and dad gave me a Lego Minecraft set and geode rocks. Luke gave me two new Skylanders for my video game and a super soaker. Nana and Grandfather got me a rock tumbler and a book on rocks and gemstones. And Grandpa Larry gave me a gift card to Toys-R-Us. Woo hoo! I hit the jackpot.

At the end of my great day we ate my baseball birthday cake!
