Fisherman

After lots of practicing in the backyard, I went fishing for real! It is so easy. I caught a dozen bluegill in just 30 minutes. Daddy said that I was very lucky. I think I'm just that good.

Positive reinforcement

I have made significant strides in my potty training over the past week. We adopted a new policy... no pants allowed! This apparently just applies to me. Its hard to poop in your pants if you don't have any on. I have not had any accidents since. I hope I can get my pants back soon. I like to stand on my chair at the kitchen table and that really seems to bother mommy and daddy during meals.

For months, mommy and daddy have been promising me more and more elaborate gifts as a reward for using the potty. This week I earned a great reward. A bouncy house! Just like my cousins'. I wonder what I would have gotten if I had held out a little longer. Maybe a car?

I love myself. Especially when I'm Robin.

History

On our beach vacation, we visited the lost colony in Roanoke. Apparently settlers (not pirates) sailed over here and tried to start their own town and then they disappeared. I thought it might be a good idea to have Scooby Doo check it out. He's always good at solving mysteries. We saw the ship the settlers went on and an Indian village. It was probably 105 degrees, but it was still pretty neat.

In the Indian village we practiced weaving mats and grinding corn. We danced in the dance circle and played in the leader's house.

We went on a real boat, just like the settlers. It had beds, guns, games, dishes, and lots of ropes.

Someone convinced Luke to do some chores on the boat.

In the museum, we dressed up like settlers and pirates. Luke wanted to spend the whole time standing in the fireplace, saying "Diagon Alley".

News flash...

Today I finally admitted to mommy that I am too scared to poop in the potty. What if I fall in? What if I get flushed? Then I faced my fear. Woo hoo! Mom and dad gave me a bucket of candy, Cole payed me a dollar, and I was promised a new bike. I wonder what I will get if I can make a repeat performance tomorrow.

In other news, we have been crazy busy having summer fun during the last few weeks. Mommy has lots and lots of pictures and adventures to share but apparently she'd rather sleep or play video games. Hopefully she will update the blog soon.

Dynamic Duo

Batman and Robin!

Did you really think we were Bruce Wayne and Tim Drake under those costumes? Ha, we were just pretending! Here we all are: Luke, me, Max, Dexter, and Corwin.

More time with the Nethertons

Playing with cousins can not be over-hyped. We brought Dex up to visit Grace, Jason, and Genna. Their house and toys are so much fun. They even taught us a few things. Jason showed me how to draw pictures of people. Grace taught Cole how to climb up the play set. They also taught us about their garden.

Here we all are: me, Genna, Dex, Jason, Grace, and Cole.

Second birthday

Apparently when your birthday is on a Wednesday you also get a Saturday birthday! Sounds good to me. We had a Batman birthday party and lots of kids came over to play. I showed them the Batman Lego sets I've been building and we tried out my new Lego Batman 2 game. And of course we ate lots of cake!

Here's all of us lined up to play stick the bat signal on Batman game.

I am FIVE

That's right! Today is my birthday. I am officially five years old. Old enough to go to Kindergarten, older than Caillou, old enough to watch the Dark Knight movie (well, maybe not that old). Ali and Dexter came to visit for my birthday. They really love me a lot. We celebrated today with lots of presents, playing in the pool, and cake. I ate my favorite foods, pancakes and bacon for breakfast and McDonald's for dinner.

Thanks for making me a great Batman and Robin cake, mom!

I am a lucky, lucky (spoiled) little boy. I got every toy I wished for and more.
I got my beloved Bat Cave Lego set. I've been asking for it all year!

 Lego Batman 2 xbox game!

Next to superheros and legos, money is my favorite thing. I'm glad my grandparents remembered! Thanks for all the money. I will keep it in my wallet, draw pictures of it, count it, and pretend I'm a bank robber and run around with it.

After presents, I spent the next 7 hours working on my lego sets.

Yummy dinner!

Ali and Dex

Yea! Aunt Ali and Dexter are here to visit! I showed him all of my toys, including my swing, sand box, and pool. Ali gave me lots of hugs and snuggles. I love you both!

Nags Head 2012

I've been to the beach with Grandma and Grandpa lots of times. It is a really, really great vacation, especially because I am such a good swimmer. With my life vest on, I was able to swim all by myself! Abby is a really good swimmer too. She liked swimming out to catch the frisbee.

My favorite things were swimming, digging in the sand, and seeing the fishermen. We went to a pier where everybody was catching fish! I spent at least 30 minutes begging daddy for a fishing pole. A really nice man let me help him catch a fish! I can't wait to do it all myself.

Beach vacation

We spent a whole week with Grandma and Grandpa at the beach! I swam in the water, dug in the sand, chased crabs, caught little creatures, shared a bed with Cole, watched new tv shows (yea Bubble Guppies!), saw fireworks, threw the frisbee to Abby, ate taffy, watched people catch fish, and lots of other things I can't remember.

Here's me scaring all the grown-ups. Don't know why. I fall down the regular stairs about once a week, but these looked much easier.

Safety Town Graduate

For two weeks, I went to Safety Town Camp in the afternoons at my new Kindergarten school. I was in the green classroom with a bunch of 5 year olds that I had never met. We learned about being safe. I saw the policeman and fireman every day. I learned how to ride the school bus and took trips to the fire department and police department. I got to go in the jail! I learned about staying away from poison, stranger danger, and calling 911. The best part of every day was going to the mini town to ride bikes and learn about traffic rules.

Here's some video of my last day at Safety Town. We did a great job singing about firemen and safety!

I was so inspired by the firemen, that I decided to take a break from superhero costumes and play fireman instead. Good thing I had the hose to practice with.
