Night-night

Ever since daylight savings time I have decided that I don't like to go to bed any more. Why should I when there is so much to do and so many toys to play with. So 7pm night-night is out. If mommy and daddy try to put me to bed then I just scream my head off until they agree that I should get to read one more book, or get one more drink, or watch the nightly news. Today I even got away with no naps. My plan for never sleeping again is going very well.

Visiting Grandma

I spent a few days this week visiting with Grandma and Grandpa. She took me, mommy, and daddy out to play with tons of toys and to a fun place in the woods that had lots of animals. I got to take a big bubble bath and eat hammer (what they call ham). I also tried to convince them that I have a tail like Abby, but they didn't seem to buy my argument. I love going to their house. I love it so much that I tried to stay up all night. This did make me a bit cranky, but I just couldn't stand to miss out on any of the fun.

Daddy taught me how to play basketball and bowl.

I got to sit on a frog and a turtle. (Can you believe that daddy fits inside a turtle?!)
I finally got my first ever bubble bath.

Happy Birthday!

To make mommy feel extra special today, I sang her the birthday song. (I also let her know that the news was on tv.) Now that is a good birthday present. I love you mommy!

Smarty pants

Everyday I learn at least 20 new words (rough estimate). Mommy says it is a phase called the naming explosion. That I can't say yet, but some of my latest words are: water can, hair dryer, pine cone, park, patio, emu, choo choo train, flip flops, hurt, hose, cheeks, and frigerator. Mommy is also very excited that this week I finally started saying the word "yes". Sometimes I say "yes", but most of the time I say "ya". I've been able to say "no" forever, but I just never needed "yes" before. I also can say/recognize all my capital letters and most of my lowercase letters, my name, and the numbers 0, 1, 4, 8, and 9. (Those are the best looking numbers after all.) I'm also good at showing off my excellent memory. For example whenever we walk by my neighbor's house I like to say "ant hand!" to remind mommy or daddy about how an ant crawled on my hand weeks ago. This morning when I woke up I immediately told mommy "mommy flip flops" to remind her of how I saw flip flops for the first time yesterday. Lastly, mommy wanted me to tell you that I like to say "love you" now also. This for some reason makes mommy and daddy really, really happy.

Just for fun, here is a picture of daddy pushing me on the swings.

My backpack

Daddy's not the only one with a cool backpack. Check out my new Elmo backpack. I took it to school today with my new lunch box. Now I just might be the coolest kid in my room. Thanks mom.

Toddler room

This week has been my first full week in my new classroom at school. I guess I got so big and smart that I needed to move from the baby room to the toddler room. Now I am in room 4 with lots of big kids (some of them are almost 3!). My friend Naomi is still with me and our new teachers are Terry and Vicki. So far I am having a great time. I get to do lots of things for myself now. I get to scoop my own cereal and pour my own milk. I get to sit in regular chairs and I don't have to wear a bib when I eat. I have my own cubby where I hang up my coat and can play with my extra clothes. And the greatest thing is that I can go into the bathroom and wash my hands or use the potty as much as I want. Washing hands is so much fun! The only thing I am missing at this point is a cool lunch box like all the other kids, but mommy promised I'll be getting one soon.
Here are two pictures of me standing by my cubby.
There's me in the bathroom. Wash, wash, wash!

A penguin story

Last week I saw an interesting looking animal in my closet. I asked mommy about it and she told me that it was a penguin. Then without even warning me she pushed a button by his feet and he started squawking, flapping his wings and running towards me. It was terrifying! The penguin is loud!! I'll admit I was so surprised (scared) I started to cry. In the following days I kept alerting mom and dad to the penguin. I didn't want them to be surprised either. Sometimes they would ask me if I wanted them to turn him on. Yea right! Anyway, penguin kept hanging around. Slowly I worked up the courage to touch the penguin, and then to kick the penguin. Somehow he grew on me. Now the penguin is my friend. Sometimes I ask mommy to turn him on and I let him run right in to my legs! I am so brave. I take him outside and play with him on the deck and yesterday I even let him share my raisins. I still like to tell people about my loud penguin, but he is ok by me.

Did you know...

that our "front yard" is made of concrete and asphalt? My face found out the hard way.

I actually landed on my head two days in a row, plus getting a fat lip tonight. I think it is because I am so adventurous. This also gives me a good opportunity to talk about feeling bad. When I get hurt I can talk about my "boo-boo" or "ouchie" and even say "Cole sad" or "Cole crying" if I am upset. There is an up side to everything.

All done

Mommy and daddy think "all done" means that I'm all done. It actually means that I will be done soon, right after I finish a few more mouthfuls (or handfuls) of food. Is it that hard to figure out?

Big boy bed

This past week I figured out how to escape from my bed. The first time I fell out I was upset and crying because I wanted to get up and for some reason mommy wanted to sleep some more. The second time I got out was because I was bored and wanted to play with my toys downstairs. Thankfully mom and dad realized that it was time for me to have a toddler bed. Now I can come and go as I please! Hmm... now if only I could figure out how to work the cable tv I'd be all set.

Nana time

Nana has been here for the past 5 days so I haven't had any free time to update the blog. Instead I've been giving her hugs, showing off my enormous vocabulary, trying to eat her yogurt, and generally entertaining her all waking and sleeping hours of the day. I can't believe she is going home tomorrow. I love my new Goodnight Babies book but I'm not sure if I'll want to read it with anyone but her.
