I'm a star!

Nana and grandfather got me a singing bear and a star for Christmas! I named my star Cole Johnston after me! My star is in the big dipper (location: Ursa Major 8h 28m 28.94s, 60 deg 56' 33.28").

A Christmas Story

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope yours was just as exciting as ours. On Christmas Eve Eve I went to school all day and then mommy picked me up and brought me home to see lots and lots of fire trucks. It was just like my fireman book! There were hoses, flashing lights, and firemen, but no dog. We couldn't get into our house and that made me sad so we all went to sleep at Taylor's house. She has a crib and I've been there before, but it was kind of scary when I woke up at 3 am. Christmas Eve we got to go back home, but our nice neighbors don't have homes any more. Daddy wouldn't let me look because it was so messy. But I guess there was a hot fire and now they can't live there any more. It was all very sad, and to top it off the tv is broken so I can't watch Super Why.

There was also some good stuff. Aunt Ali, Uncle Dan, Ophelia, and Bosley came to sleep over. I learned all their names (well I already had Ali's down good). And my great uncle Bob came over for Christmas dinner. I got to open lots of neat presents. And daddy let me play with his remote control car. Mommy took lots of pictures with the new camera daddy got her. I wish I could show you some but the fire broke our computer too. I am at Grandma's house now writing this. I don't know when ours will be working, but I'll try to blog again soon.

Jingle bells, jingle bells!

Here's celebrating my first full day back at school. Mommy didn't think I was going to make it after I threw up my oatmeal, but that was just a minor setback. I sure hope I get to eat more than toast and bananas for Christmas. For now, a little music always makes me feel better.

Bring me my pail

Last night mommy and daddy took me to the Children's Clinic. I think they were particularly bothered by my exploding diaper that got all over me and my crib. So, I got weighed (-2 pounds), and they took my blood pressure and temperature (100.7). The doctor did not seem too worried about me. She gave me medicine to help me eat and a yummy blue popsicle. Mommy is very sad that I have lost my pot belly. Now I won't be able to dress up as a baby Santa.
Today I have been feeling much better. I ate some toast, part of a banana, and drank daddy's Powerade. It is the first food I've eaten since Wednesday! I also practiced using my new puke bucket the doctors gave me. I haven't had to use it yet, but I'm ready.

Hello, Doctor?

Can you please explain to me how I can have a fever for 6 days, have swollen and bleeding gums where my molars are coming in, hit my forehead and front teeth on a table (2 separate incidents), and now come down with a stomach virus complete with projectile vomiting? Its been a rough week. I couldn't enjoy eating any of my favorite foods and now I can't even keep water down. I thought people were supposed to gain 5 pounds during the holidays. I've already lost 1!

Happy Holidays

Are you done with your Christmas shopping? I hope so, because I love opening presents. Merry Christmas!

Body parts

Teeth!

I'm really good at saying and pointing to my body parts. Mommy took this picture when I was saying teeth. I can also say/point to my eyes, ears, mouth, nose, hand, knees, bellybutton, hair, back, toes, and butt. If you aren't sure where any of your body parts are, just ask me and I'll show you.

Slow blogging

I haven't had a chance to blog much lately. In case you didn't know, my computer access depends on mommy and apparently she's been too tired to bring me down to blog. I don't know why she is so tired, I'm the one who's had a fever for the past 3 days. Yet, I still want to update all my fans. Oh yeah, what is the best cure for a fever? Doritos! Thanks dad.

Lights!

This weekend mommy got out a big box full of scary tree parts. I couldn't dare touch the strange spiky branches, but now that she's added lights and made it into a tree its really very pretty. I love the lights. And daddy added big lights all outside the front door and garage. I got to go out in the snow and look at them. They told me that the decorations are for Christmas. I'm not sure what that is but it seems pretty good so far.
This morning I helped mommy decorate the tree with lots of shiny little things. Even though I was helping, apparently a lot of things that go on Christmas trees are "No's". I'm trying my best to stay away, but all the decorations are begging me to pull them off!

Coloring

I think I've finally figured out that crayons are not for eating.

Chilly

Mommy finally got me a winter coat, and just in time. This week it has been snowing! The last two days it has been so cold that I've decided that mittens are not such a bad idea after all.

Thanksgiving weekend

Mom, dad, Abby, and I spent a long weekend with Grandma and Grandpa. We got to celebrate Thanksgiving, where everyone sits at a big table and eats turkey and stuffing. No offense to the Grandpa but my favorite foods were definitely the corn and cranberry jelly. A lot of daddy's cousins came over and I showed off my amazing parroting skills. I learned to say Joey's name and I did my animal impressions. Probably the best was when Mark taught me to drink my water with a spoon!
While we were visiting, Grandma took mommy and me to a play place for kids. I got to throw lots of balls, climb on and in things, and bowl. Overall, I had tons of fun this weekend. I did lots of dancing with Grandma and Grandpa and gave them many, many kisses. And just to show them how much I love them I made sure to give them a taste of how I can be a whiny frustrated toddler. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

ELMO!

Today mommy took me to an amazing place. It was a huge building filled with little kids just like me. She introduced me to a nice girl named Nicole and Nicole's mommy. After we sat down the lights went off and then right in front of me was Elmo, Big Bird, and lots of other furry people that I've seen in my books. It was crazy!! There was lots of singing and dancing and flashing lights. I wasn't sure that Elmo was real, but now I've seen him! It was a great show. I highly recommend it. And if you go make sure to eat some popcorn. Have you ever tried that stuff? Its delicious!

Go Buckeyes!

Saturday I played with my footballs and watched the Buckeyes beat Michigan. Granted I did sleep from the 2nd to the 4th quarter, but I can't help that they scheduled it during my nap time. The game was great but the day was even better because Aunt Ali came to visit me! I got to give her my special Cole kisses.

All grown up

Big boys don't sleep in cribs, so I must be all grown up! This week I started sleeping in my own cot on the floor at school. Who you calling baby now?

Poor Abby

Mommy and daddy told me that I have to give Abby lots of hugs and kisses and be extra nice to her. Last night when I was sleeping she had a seizure. I don't know what that means but it sounds like a serious word. I like to give her lots of love anyway. I will just have to make sure that I practice my "soft touches" and not pull her tail and hit her nose.

The no game

I love the word "no". Its just soooo funny! Mommy and daddy say it all the time. So I make sure that I say it too. For example, I say "no, no, no" as I touch the stereo, when I stand up on the coffee table, and when I bang my toys against the window. And they say "no" back. What a great game. Hmmm, I wonder what "no" means. Oh, who cares? "No" must mean fun!

Kisses

For months mommy has been trying to teach me to give kisses. Today I decided to show her that I figured it out. First I kissed Abby several times and they were so excited that I agreed to kiss daddy and finally mommy. They cheered me on so much that I'm giving everything kisses now. I kissed my rocking chair, my blocks, and my new Sponge Bob ball! Below is a picture of me during my kissing spree. I am too quick of a kisser to be caught on film.

Winter clothes

In my short life I have never enjoyed wearing hats... until I got my newest winter hat. I'm not sure if it is the brown and orange colors, the fact that I can say "hat", or that wearing it usually leads to going outdoors, but I like to wear my hat whenever I can. Even when I'm in my pj's and about to go nite-nite.
(These feelings do not apply to the matching mittens.)

Too late?

I've decided that I want to be a ghost for Halloween. Is it too late?

Election Day

I vote that we stop watching the news and start watching SuperWhy!

Happy Halloween

For Halloween mom, dad, and I went to visit Taylor. I dressed up as a firefighter and she was Tinkerbell. I got to ride all over their neighborhood in a red wagon. I saw lots of kids and nice people giving out candy. I watched Taylor ask people for tricks or treats and they put candy in her pumpkin. Maybe next year I'll do that too. I'm not quite sure what candy is, but it must be good stuff.

It may not look like it in this picture, but we had lots of fun!

Pumpkins

This weekend I helped mommy and daddy carve pumpkins. Well actually I just played in the goop and chewed on pumpkin pieces. Apparently I'm not allowed to use knives. I think they did a great job. I especially like to pull the lids off to look at the candles when they are lit. "Hot" is my word of the week!

Happy Belated Birthday Daddy

Thursday was daddy's birthday. I helped mommy pick out his presents and I even signed a card for him. I loved the part where mommy turned out the lights, lit a candle, and sang a song to him. I wish I knew the words so I could have sung too. (I only know Row, Row, Row.) I hope daddy felt special, because to be honest my 1st birthday party was way more fun.

Catch

I love watching daddy play catch with Abby. She is soooooo fast! I really want her to play with me too but she doesn't seem able to catch the ball when I throw it. And lets be realistic, I'm a little too young to be able to throw the frisbee. For now I'll just keep trying.

I don't even mind that much when Abby's not interested in me because there are so many leaves to play with. You can really have a lot of fun with a pile of leaves.

Shoes

First of all, I love my shoes. I like to wear them or carry them, play with the velcro, and sometimes I try to put them on mommy's feet. But, I also like mommy and daddy's shoes. I bring them their shoes whenever I want to go out. I like to try them on but I haven't figured out how to walk in them yet. Today I had fun making big shoe piles and hiding my dirty Kleenex in mommy's sneakers.

Not so big boy

This morning I had my 15 month check-up a few days late. I surprised mommy and daddy by getting back on the growth charts. Today I was 32.25 inches long and 28.5 pounds, both in the 90th percentile. They were worried that I was eating too much. What they don't know is that I give a lot of my food to Abby. I showed the doctor how advanced I am by pointing out my nose and belly-button, doing my parrot and gorilla impressions, and displaying my excellent walking ability. He was very impressed. Then he sent in the mean nurse to stab me with three needles. Three!! Mom says that now I won't get the chicken pox, flu, measles, mumps, or rubella. I don't know what those are, but they can't be as bad as shots. After the doctor, daycare, and an afternoon at the park with mommy, I am beat!! 7 pm nite-nite couldn't come soon enough.

Sunny days

Some day when I'm bigger I'll be able to climb up on this rock all by myself. Until then, I'm glad I have mommy and daddy to help.

Chores

After watching mommy vacuum, I thought I'd help out around the house too. Sweeping is not as easy as it looks!

Decisions, decisions

Its an endless argument... which is better the swings or the slide. They are both equally fun. At this point however, I will go with the slide, simply because I can say slide (sounds like: yide).

Superboy!

Superhero costume or pj's? You decide.
(I'm getting in the mood for Halloween.)

Leaves

The best thing about fall has got to be the leaves. I can spend hours picking them up, stepping on them, or my favorite... throwing them off the deck one by one. Bombs away!
